A neuropsychological assessment can help clarify why someone is experiencing difficulties with their thinking. An assessment outlines strengths and weaknesses in thinking style and can also clarify diagnoses and guide treatment planning. Length of assessment varies based on your concerns and the package you select. Typically, for every hour we spend together, the same amount of time is spent scoring information, gathering information from others, and conceptualizing the information received.
This package includes a thorough assessment of your thinking ability, social function and emotional wellbeing. This includes assessing intelligence (IQ), ability to focus and process information quickly, learning style, verbal and visual memory ability, language function, perceptual ability, motor skills, and executive functioning such as flexibility in thinking and organization/planning. Assessment also includes evaluation of physical health and mental well-being.
This package explores social, emotional, and personality functioning, providing an objective assessment of psychological functioning. This includes a brief assessment of IQ, measures of mood and personality, and consultation with others who know you well, with your permission.
This abbreviated assessment is designed to answer a very specific question. Therefore, the process is briefer compared to a comprehensive evaluation. This does not include additional consultation with teachers or treatment providers and often testing is completed in one day.
