Education
Dr. Lalani completed her undergraduate degree in Finance with a minor in Spanish at the University of Houston. After working for a large financial institution, she returned to academia to pursue science.
She completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Brigham Young University – Provo, Utah, trained as a lifespan psychologist with specialization in neuropsychology. She completed her residency at the VA Northern California Health Care System – Martinez, California, with specialization in neuropsychology. She then went on to complete her two-year postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at the Epilepsy Center at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
Experience
Dr. Lalani is a Licensed Psychologist in Texas (38583) and California (32285).
She has the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT #5780) granted by the PSYPACT Commission.
During graduate school, Dr. Lalani studied the effects of traumatic brain injury in children. During fellowship, she developed an interest in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and studied memory in adults with TLE working jointly with UCSF and UCSD.
Dr. Lalani continues to study the cognitive and psychological effects of TLE as a member of the LOCI Lab at UCSD. Learn more about her research here.
Hobbies & Personal Life
Outside of work, Dr. Lalani enjoys yoga, biking, and kickboxing. She also enjoys going on hikes with her dog, Tyrion.
