Our Process

All of our therapeutic consulting services start here with steps 1 and 2.

Step 1: Initial Call

This initial call is always free. About 30 minutes.

The initial call is an important first step towards finding the support and guidance you and/or your loved one need. During this call, we will listen attentively to your concerns and goals, providing a safe space for you to openly discuss your unique situation. Taking the time to understand your specific needs, challenges, aspirations, and any relevant background information, the goal is to gather a comprehensive understanding of your circumstances in order to determine the best solution and service for you.

Step 2: Psychosocial Information Gathering

We gather information from loved ones and/or parents. We then also gather information from the client's clinical team.

Next steps for specific services:

  • Placement Services: outpatient plans or case management plans are created, and then step 3 begins.
  • Mentor Services: mentoring begins.
  • Companionship Services: companionship begins.

Step 3: Options are Presented to Parents and/or Loved Ones

If the options include a residential option, we make sure they have been preclinically accepted and the program has the space to take the client.

Step 4: We Speak to the Client and Do Intervention (if needed)

Next steps for specific services:

  • Placement Services: outpatient and placement plan ends here.
  • Case Management Services: case management continues below with step 5.

Step 5: Case Management

  • We keep in touch with residential providers while the client is there OR keep in touch with the outpatient providers.
  • If client is in a residential program, we create the discharge plan and next steps. If they are in an outpatient plan, we make sure the outpatient providers are in touch and continue case management.
  • We find therapists for parents and siblings (if needed)

Note: Since mental health can be hit-or-miss sometimes, the placement or some of the  outpatient providers may need to be changed throughout. As a result, we monitor fit of these programs for the client and make sure to adjust treatment plans if we find other things that may be a better fit.

Definitions

Case Management

Case management is a collaborative and coordinated process that involves the assessment, planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of services and resources for individuals or groups with complex needs. It is typically provided by case managers, who are professionals trained to facilitate and advocate for the well-being of their clients.

The goal of case management is to support individuals in achieving their desired outcomes by connecting them with appropriate services, resources, and support systems. Case managers assess the needs and strengths of their clients, develop personalized care plans, and coordinate the delivery of services across different providers and organizations. They serve as a central point of contact, ensuring effective communication and collaboration between all involved parties.

Placement Plan

A plan where a residential program is found for placement through assessment, evaluation, program research, and individualized planning. This plan is often created by a therapeutic residential placement specialist.

Outpatient Therapeutic Plan

An outpatient therapeutic plan refers to a structured and individualized treatment plan designed for individuals receiving care or treatment on an outpatient basis. Outpatient care refers to healthcare services that do not require an overnight stay in a hospital or other healthcare facility.

An outpatient therapeutic plan is typically developed by healthcare professionals, such as doctors, therapists, or counselors, in collaboration with the individual seeking treatment. It outlines the specific goals, interventions, and frequency of services to address the person's health condition or therapeutic needs.

The components of an outpatient therapeutic plan may vary depending on the nature of the condition being treated and the individual's requirements. It may include elements such as: diagnosis and assessment, treatment goals, treatment interventions, frequency and duration, progress monitoring and evaluation, and collaborative care.

Therapeutic Companion

A therapeutic companion, also known as a therapeutic buddy or support companion, is a professional who provides emotional support, companionship, and assistance to individuals in a therapeutic context. They are often hired to accompany individuals who may require extra support due to mental health challenges, developmental disabilities, or other specific needs. Therapeutic companions work closely with their clients to provide a sense of comfort, safety, and companionship. They may engage in various activities together, such as going for walks, participating in hobbies, attending appointments, or simply being present to offer emotional support. Their presence can help alleviate feelings of loneliness, anxiety, or distress and provide a sense of stability and reassurance.

The role of a therapeutic companion is distinct from that of a therapist or counselor, as they do not provide formal therapy or clinical interventions. Instead, they focus on building a supportive relationship and offering practical assistance. They may also provide reminders for medication, help with daily tasks, or offer guidance in navigating social situations. Therapeutic companions can be particularly beneficial for individuals who may require extra support in their daily lives but do not necessarily need intensive therapy. They can provide a sense of companionship, understanding, and encouragement, contributing to the overall well-being and emotional stability of their clients.

Therapeutic Consultant

A professional who provides guidance, support, and expertise in the field of mental health and wellness. They work closely with individuals, families, or organizations to assess their specific needs and develop personalized plans for achieving emotional, psychological, and behavioral well-being. These consultants often have a background in counseling, psychology, or related fields and can offer recommendations for therapeutic interventions, treatment options, and resources that align with the client's goals. They may collaborate with other mental health professionals and help facilitate communication between clients and their therapists or treatment providers. Overall, the role of a therapeutic consultant is to provide expert advice and assistance in navigating the complexities of mental health and finding appropriate solutions and support.

Therapeutic Mentor

A therapeutic mentor is a professional who provides guidance, support, and mentorship to individuals in a therapeutic context. They work with clients, often in conjunction with therapists or treatment teams, to help them develop and enhance their skills, coping mechanisms, and overall well-being. Therapeutic mentors typically have a background in mental health or related fields.

Their role is to assist individuals in achieving their therapeutic goals, fostering positive behavioral changes, and promoting personal growth. They engage with their clients in various ways, such as one-on-one sessions, group activities, or community outings. They offer guidance and practical support, helping clients develop life skills, improve communication, manage emotions, and navigate daily challenges. By building a supportive and trusting relationship, therapeutic mentors provide encouragement, accountability, and a safe space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings.

Therapeutic Residential Placement Specialist

A professional who specializes in helping individuals find appropriate therapeutic residential placements. They have expertise in assessing the needs of individuals who require a higher level of care due to mental health challenges, behavioral issues, or other specific needs that cannot be adequately addressed in a traditional home or community setting. Their primary goal is to help individuals access appropriate and effective therapeutic environments that can support their growth, development, and overall well-being. They have knowledge of the available options, the requirements of different programs, and the specific considerations for matching individuals with the most suitable placement.
